Nashville board renews property, vehicle and student-activity insurance; keeps longtime local agent

The Nashville School District board unanimously approved a slate of insurance renewals and a student-activity insurance purchase at its June meeting.
Mr. Graham recommended retaining Dwight Jones Agency for student-activity and athletic coverage, citing a 40-year local relationship and the value of face-to-face service; the premium for that coverage is $31,500. The board approved the recommendation on a 3-0 vote.
Mr. Graham also presented ASBA (Arkansas School Board Association) insurance renewals for property and for buses and district vehicles. He reported last year’s property premium was $213,376 and that the ASBA quote this year is $185,664.10 for the 2024–25 school year. He said the vehicle and bus insurance bid rose to $15,718.30 (about a $4,000 increase). The board approved both renewals 3-0.
Mr. Graham noted replacement-cost language in the current ASBA policy and said there is legislative work underway to address school property insurance at the state level; any broader legislative changes would be handled separately.
The approvals were recorded during the board’s routine business session and will be incorporated into the district’s fiscal-year 24–25 budget and insurance procurements.
