The Goodhue County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a $93,616,249 budget and set a $45,315,975 levy for 2025, officials said at the board’s December meeting in Red Wing.
Administration staff told the board the budget process reduced the preliminary levy and that the proposed levy equals $45,315,975, “bringing the proposed levy down to 3.49%,” and represents an overall tax-rate decrease of 1.23%. Staff presented the package and recommended the board adopt the budget and the resolutions to set the levy.
Commissioner Anderson moved to adopt the resolution setting the levy as recommended. After a roll-call vote the motion passed 4-1; one commissioner opposed the measure. The record shows the board completed the roll call and the chair declared the motion carried 4 to 1.
The board’s action finalizes the county’s preliminary budget work that staff said began in September and was refined over the following months. Staff noted the budget includes a $93.6 million total operating plan and the board and management team credited county department staff and finance personnel for their work.
Next steps: The board approved the resolutions to adopt the budget and levy; no additional votes on the levy were scheduled at the meeting.
