Board proclaims October 2024 National 4‑H Week; county welcomes new 4‑H educator

The Goodhue County Board unanimously approved a proclamation declaring October 2024 National 4‑H Week in the county and heard highlights from the Extension Office about recent youth participation and achievements.
Ally Kleckner, one of the county's extension educators, opened with program metrics: "We did have 530 participants at county fair with just over 2,400 total exhibits," she said, and described state‑level participation by local youth in fairs, shooting sports and equestrian events. Kleckner and two youth leaders, Alyssa Rice and Gabby Perotti, presented the proclamation text and asked the board to declare National 4‑H Week.
"Now, therefore, we ask the Goodhue County Board of Commissioners to hereby proclaim October 2024 as National 4‑H Week throughout Goodhue County," the proclamation reads (presented by 4‑H members).
Tammy McCullough, the extension regional director, introduced Amanda Gebhardt, who began work Sept. 16 as the county's 4‑H Youth Development Extension Educator. Gebhardt spoke briefly about her background and said she was glad to join the community.
Commissioners praised the program and its youth ambassadors, moved and seconded the proclamation, and approved it by voice vote.
Next steps: The county will observe National 4‑H Week in October and Extension staff will continue outreach and programming for youth across Goodhue County.
