Coventry council waives Heritage Day fee and conditionally approves parish liquor license

The Coventry Town Council voted unanimously to waive a $100 exhibitions/performances fee for the Western Rhode Island Civic Historical Society’s Heritage Day event scheduled for Aug. 27 and invited residents to attend the event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A representative of the historical society asked the council to waive the fee; Vice President LeBlanc moved to approve and Council Member Capaldi seconded. The roll call vote was 4–0 in favor.
The council also reviewed a Class F liquor license application for a Saint John and Paul Parish fundraiser on Oct. 5. The clerk confirmed the application was submitted but that a fire-inspection copy remained outstanding. The council voted to approve issuance of the license contingent on receipt of the fire-inspection documentation and subsequently voted to waive the fee; both votes were unanimous.
Council pulled item C from the agenda because required fire-inspection and zoning approvals were not complete and directed staff to notify the business so they would not attend unnecessarily.
All license approvals were recorded by roll call. Where the clerk noted missing paperwork, the council approved issuance contingent on receipt of the outstanding inspection copy.
