Cabot reports record AP participation and gains; summer ACT prep shows student improvement

Mister Randolph told the board Cabot administered 964 AP exams at Cabot High School and Panther Academy last year — the highest number since the district began giving AP exams in 1988 — and said over two‑thirds of exams earned students college credit. He reported the district’s five‑year average score moved from 2.82 to "over 3.0," noted the highest percentage of scores were 4s, and said the district reduced the share of score‑1 results to 10% (the staff goal had been below 15%). Randolph attributed improvements to renewed PLC collaboration and to several staff who served as AP exam readers.
Separately, Miss Graham described the district’s two‑week ACT summer‑prep class: 37 students enrolled this year, 25 sat the July ACT and 17 of those 25 increased their score (one remained the same), including several students who improved by three to four points. She announced next year’s summer‑prep dates: June 30–July 3 and July 7–11.
Board members congratulated staff and families and asked follow‑up questions about course offerings, the number of AP subjects (presenters estimated about 28 offered locally of roughly 40 the College Board provides), and how students can safely take multiple AP classes across four years.
