Cabot presents first ATLAS assessment results; district says scores 'above the state'

Cabot administrators presented the district’s initial ATLAS assessment results and walked the board through interpretation and next steps.
Mister Randolph, presenting the data, said the new ATLAS system is more comprehensive than prior summative tests and is designed to measure mastery of grade-level standards across multiple interim pieces. He told the board the district "outperformed the state in all of our grade levels" and emphasized the results represent the first iteration of a new assessment platform.
Randolph explained score bands and what a '2' indicates under the state’s cut scores: a 2 shows partial mastery that is close to the state’s proficiency cut. He noted small point differences can separate a 2 from a 3 and asked the board to view the first release as a learning opportunity for teachers and administrators. The district also said scores went live online recently and that parents will receive student access codes along with a parent toolkit to review results.
The board scheduled a school-by-school work session next month to examine detailed results and plans for targeted improvement.
