At its June 6 meeting the Olivette Planning & Community Design Commission received staff updates on the 2024 comprehensive plan and associated code work. Staff said the city council will hold a public hearing next week on adopting code references to the updated comprehensive plan and that staff will bring draft amendments addressing tree canopy protections and residential lighting standards.
Staff noted enforcement challenges for residential lighting (intensity and directionality of new consumer fixtures) and said the approach will likely emphasize outreach and clarification rather than immediate aggressive enforcement. Public‑works will use funds from the Metropolitan Sewer District to inventory residential stormwater detention sites, map their locations and sizes, and incorporate findings into an updated stormwater master plan.
Staff also previewed city development activity — Irvington Place Apartments phasing meetings, Audi tenant staging at Olive Crossing, partial occupancy at EZ Storage and Great Heart Brewery’s scheduling — and said the next commission meeting is scheduled for June 20 (with the July 4 meeting likely canceled for facility closure).
Commissioners asked that staff provide comprehensive‑plan booklets at the next meeting and to continue coordination with parks and sustainability advocates on native‑plant demonstrations and landscape ordinance drafting.
