The Olivette City Council proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month during its June 25 meeting and invited Parks & Recreation staff to introduce themselves and the summer slate of programs.
Assistant Parks & Recreation Director Patrick McGee introduced new recreation supervisor Hannah Samarko, program supervisor TJ Beasley and administrative specialist Payton, describing staff roles and recent expansions including programming at 5 Oaks and trail improvements across the city’s more than 120 acres of parkland. "She’s been here less than 10 days and is already in her first meetings," McGee said of Samarko.
Staff highlighted a Parks Month photo contest (deadline July 15) and events including staged hikes, yoga on the patio, a scavenger hunt, and a culminating Party on the Patio. City staff also referenced 5 Oaks on Morrison as a recent community center opening that will continue to influence budget and programming.
The council thanked the parks staff and congratulated them on the proclamation; no formal council action was required for the proclamation.
