Resident asks city for guidance on property deed and beneficiary deed concerns

She said she faces a court date in Clayton on July 31 that may address adding her name to a beneficiary deed, quitclaim deed or other conveyance document. Laney asked the council and staff for advice on how to use or retrieve property without risking arrest.
City staff offered to speak with Laney after the meeting, advised updating identification documents where appropriate, and characterized the matter as a personal legal issue best resolved with staff assistance and consultation with relevant legal or title services rather than through city policy action.
No formal council action was taken on the matter; staff follow-up with the resident was offered.
