Staff and commissioners noted the left/south elevation appeared as a large mass and recommended additional window openings or other articulation. Petitioner Mark Mandlin of the Manlin Company agreed that adding windows in the dining and living areas was feasible and that staff could work with the team to refine elevations.
A condition of approval requires the petitioner to work with staff to add windows as discussed and to provide a tree protection plan for street trees. The motion to approve the petition as presented in the Aug. 1 staff memorandum, subject to staff conditions and the windows requirement, passed unanimously 5–0. The next step is building permitting.
