Liberty County approves countywide emergency notification system to speed public alerts

Commissioners discussed the need to designate administrators in county offices, set backups and coordinate with the office of emergency management so that emergency management staff would handle emergency alerts while other county offices could send routine notices (for example, road closures).
The court did not specify which department will sign the vendor contract during the meeting; staff indicated they would coordinate implementation details and designate administrators and backups.
