Liberty County approves inmate housing agreement with Care County; Chambers County deal tabled

The agreement was introduced by Speaker 4, who said the sheriff's office recommended the arrangement. Commissioner Greg moved to approve the agreement and David seconded; the court approved the motion by voice vote.
On a second proposed interlocal agreement with Chambers County — intended to house female inmates only — Speaker 4 said the draft before the court contained Liberty County's proposed, nonmaterial changes but those revisions had not yet been accepted by Chambers County. Commissioners agreed to table the Chambers County item until Chambers County reviews and approves the changes. Greg moved to table the item, David seconded and the motion carried.
The court did not record a roll-call tally tied to individual commissioners' names beyond the motion and second; outcomes were recorded as voice votes. No further conditions or financial terms for the Care County agreement were discussed on the record during the meeting.
The court moved to its next agenda items following the votes; the Chambers County agreement will return when the counterpart county has completed its review.
