Commission approves new uniform purchasing specifications and service contracts with local fire departments

Limestone County commissioners approved changes to the county’s uniform purchasing specifications and ratified contracts for service with two local volunteer fire departments.

During discussion of Item 7, an unidentified official (Speaker 2) introduced proposed specification changes intended to alter how the county buys uniforms (caps, jackets and related apparel) and to capture potential savings through a government purchasing program. Speaker 4 described per-week rental and unit pricing and discussed adding jacket purchases under the new arrangement, estimating a capital cost of about $600 for certain items.

The commission moved and seconded the uniform-specification item and approved it by voice vote.
