"This month, we were able to help out 2,076 families," the pantry director reported, and he provided a monthly breakdown that included adults, children and emergency-case counts across programs. The pantry said it carried 16 items into the next month and mobilized 18 volunteers who contributed 341 hours.
Staff described a partnership with the South Texas Food Bank that reduces cost to the county and stretches dollars: the presenter said every county dollar leveraged roughly a tenfold purchasing effect through the food-bank partnership. The pantry noted a holiday box cost estimate (about $12) and an approximate retail turkey cost (about $30), and staff said each distributed turkey averages about 15 pounds.
Commissioners praised the pantry’s volunteer effort and cross‑department support; road and bridge staff were thanked for helping with distribution logistics. The court recorded appreciation for the pantry’s outreach and the project’s positive client feedback.
