Commissioners finalize Nov. 5 canvass for Precincts 3A–3C and direct petitioner to pay recount costs

The court cited the Texas Election Code in explaining that two commissioners met to canvass the election results prior to a petitioner’s request for a recount and that the only remaining canvassing pertained to the manual recount requested for the three precincts.
Following the canvass, the court considered an instruction to the Maverick County Treasurer to invoice the petitioner identified in the record (named as Carlos Cabritos Rosantos' petitioner) for recount expenses required under the Texas Election Code, chapter 212. County staff reported nine clerks served 7.75 hours each at $17 per hour for a total recount personnel cost of $1,185.75. A $400 deposit had been posted by the petitioner, leaving $785.75 due. Commissioner Reese moved to direct the treasurer to invoice the petitioner; Commissioner Rios seconded, and the court voted unanimously to proceed.
The court’s action recorded acceptance of the canvass and authorized the treasurer to collect the outstanding recount balance. No further legal challenges or recount outcomes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
