Oak Grove approves cooperative agreement with Mid-America Regional Council for senior services

The Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen on July 15 unanimously adopted Bill 20-417, approving a cooperative agreement with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) to provide certain services to elderly residents, including meal delivery and related support.

Scott (city staff) — presenting the item — described the agreement as the city’s annual contract renewal with changes that clarify revenue-recovery provisions for the Davis Center’s operations. “The meals have drastically improved,” Scott said, describing service quality and noting that the contract language now makes it clearer how the city can recoup certain meal-delivery costs. He added that attendance at senior programs has been solid and that contract changes are intended to maximize available funding while remaining within program limits.

The city clerk read the full title of the bill, including Agreement No. 13731-OG25. A motion to adopt Bill 20-417 was seconded and approved on roll call; Sierra McMichael, Kelly Neto, Tracy Newcomer and Pam (last name variably recorded) voted yes. The motion carried and Bill 20-417 became Ordinance No. 2,117.

Staff said some contract details clarify how meal-delivery vendors are selected (MARC administers the contract and issues bids to subcontractors) and that clearer language should help the city recover some meal costs. The agreement authorizes the mayor to execute the contract on behalf of the city.

The board did not amend the agreement at the meeting and directed staff to continue work on implementation and fee/revenue details as needed.
