Oak Grove reports emergency repair for north water meter vault; replacement valves due mid-October

City staff updated the Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen on Sept. 16 about an emergency repair at the north Watermaster meter vault that regulates water pressure from Independence. Corey (Speaker 11) said two custom-built valves have been deteriorating since July; staff performed temporary repairs to extend service while replacement valves are custom manufactured.
"North, Watermaster meter vault has a couple faulty valves," Corey said, noting that if the valves fail they can either allow excessive pressure, potentially causing catastrophic system damage, or restrict flow and reduce supply. Corey said staff obtained three quotes, selected FTC and expect the new valves to arrive by mid-October, after which city staff will install them.
Corey said the problem was monitored since July and technicians provided temporary adjustments while the custom valves were ordered. The city will use in-house staff for installation when parts arrive and provided the board with photos and documentation included in the meeting packet.
No vote was required; the update was provided as an informational report and the board thanked staff for the work and the advance notice.
