The Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen on Sept. 3 approved the first reading by title of Bill No. 20418, an ordinance amending Chapter 500 of the municipal code covering building codes and building permit fees, and initiated the statutory 90-day review period.
Staff member Justin presented the draft ordinance and told the board, "What you see tonight, is the draft for the ... ordinance, changing the building codes and updating, to 02/2018." He noted a small wording correction on page 20 that had been provided to the board in updated packet pages. Justin asked for the first reading to be read by title only and to start the required state review process.
A board member moved for first reading by title only; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The City Clerk then read the full bill once, and the chair explained the 90-day waiting period required by law before the ordinance can come back for a second reading and possible adoption.
The board did not adopt the ordinance at this meeting; the next procedural step is the conclusion of the 90-day review and a later return for second reading and adoption if pursued.
