Oak Grove board renews conditional-use permit for Purgatory Tattoo after public hearing

The Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen voted unanimously Dec. 16 to renew the conditional use permit for Purgatory Tattoo, a tattoo and body-piercing business at 1100 South Broadway.
City staff member Justin opened the public hearing, noting Planning & Zoning had moved on Dec. 3 to recommend approval with no set end date. Meg Melchert, who identified herself as a co-owner of Purgatory Tattoos and Inked and Classy, told the board the business has operated at the Broadway location since January 2020 and that she and her husband are proud to be part of Oak Grove. "As of January 7, we'll be celebrating our 25th year in business," Melchert said, expressing hope to continue in the community.
Following the public comment period, a board member moved first and second reading by title only of Bill 24-22 and the board voted to adopt the ordinance. The clerk read the full title twice and the roll call vote was recorded; the motion was approved and Bill 24-22 became Ordinance No. 2,121.
The board congratulated the applicants and closed the item. No conditions beyond those in the existing conditional use permit were announced during the meeting.
