The Van Buren County quorum court unanimously approved an ordinance transferring $1,864.70 from library fund 3008 to law library fund 6009 to correct an electric bill that had been posted to the wrong fund account.

Becky Page sponsored the ordinance. Deborah Beyer, identified in the meeting as the library director, told the court the library’s electric bill runs "anywhere from 1,500 to about 1,800" a month and that a miscoding had resulted in the payment being charged to the law library account instead of the general library fund.

The court completed the transfer by roll-call vote. Members said the coding error was unintentional and standard accounting procedures will be used to correct the record. No additional budgetary action was recorded beyond the corrective transfer.
