Committee clarifies and advances bill expanding who may administer oaths in corrections system

Senator Gardner confirmed he had spoken to agency staff and that the Board of Correction "ultimately has the authority and to determine the qualifications and to approve any director," and that HB 1258 would authorize the board to allow an authorized person to give the oath. After clarifying that point, a motion to move the bill passed by voice vote.
Earlier in the meeting the bill had been pulled for follow-up; committee members returned to the item after clarifications and approved it.
