State police report 18,636 hotline calls; CACD reports 30% substantiation rate and 532 cases submitted to prosecutors

Major Jeff Drew, commander of the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division, presented CACD’s quarterly report to the joint committee, summarizing hotline volumes, casework and prosecutorial outcomes.
"The hotline received 18,636 calls," Drew said, adding that 10,206 of those were accepted for further action. He reported CACD handled about 1,778 of the accepted calls while DCFS handled another 6,564; 1,864 accepted matters were handled through differential response. Drew said CACD had 1,684 open cases and closed 1,489 during the period, with 449 of those closed cases substantiated — yielding a substantiation rate the presentation materials list near 30%.
Drew also summarized prosecutorial outcomes: during the period CACD submitted roughly 532 cases to prosecutors, 244 were filed, 222 remained pending and 66 were declined. He offered to take committee questions on the reports and the committee had none during his turn.
