Dorley Chandler, director of the ABC, testified the agency is neutral on the legislation and that the ABC will not require an existing liquor store to move if a school is later built nearby. Chandler told the committee, "If a school comes in after a liquor store is already established, the liquor store will remain in that location unless they elect to move on their own. We will not require liquor store to move its location because the school elects to build in their vicinity." Representative Mayberry confirmed the bill would grandfather existing permits and affect new permits only.
After no public testimony, the committee voted by voice to advance the measure.
