Committee clears technical and consumer‑protection bills including timeshare, utility and other measures

Sponsor testimony said the measure expands enforcement authority for the Real Estate Commission, the attorney general and local prosecutors to curb scams in the secondary market.
Senate Bill 489, largely technical cleanup aligned with earlier House Bill 1662 (Act 404), was presented as technical and agreed by stakeholders; the Public Service Commission signaled support and the measure passed the committee.
The committee also adopted an array of motions to pass other bills on the agenda and adjourned for the day.
