Senator Dan Sullivan introduced Senate Bill 11 on the committee floor, saying the measure continues an emergency-order allowance that permits banks to hold annual shareholder meetings remotely. Sullivan told the committee he had worked with the Bankers Association and local bankers in Jonesboro and did not report any opposition; Laurie Trogdon of the Bankers Association was present in the hearing room to testify if needed.
A committee member asked whether confidentiality protections for shareholder meetings are included in the bill; Sullivan said he was not aware of a confidentiality requirement specific to shareholder meetings and that the issue had not arisen among stakeholders. After brief discussion, a motion to pass the bill was made and seconded and the committee adopted SB11 by voice vote.
The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the hearing. The committee chair said the bill was passed and moved on to the next agenda items; House Bill 1027 was passed over for later consideration.
