Ledding said the insurance department requested the clarification to reflect the legislature’s original intent; she told the committee there had been no implementation issues to date but the department wanted wording that removes doubt. "All we're doing today is adding some clarifying language at the request of the insurance department," she said.
Senator Chesterfield moved the do‑pass motion and Senator Ervin seconded. The committee approved SB383 by voice vote.
With that approval, the bill will continue through the legislative process.
