Senate committee concurs with two technical amendments to SB79 clarifying nurse-practitioner language

Senator Justin Boyd, District 27, presented two amendments to Senate Bill 79 and the committee concurred by voice vote.
Boyd said Amendment 1 replaces the phrase "collaborative practice agreement" with a "board required agreement with a physician" and deletes the word "full" on page 2, line 8 to clean up the bill's language. "This this bill just provides some clarification," Boyd said.
Amendment 2 would allow a certified nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist who has prescriptive authority in another state, territory or foreign country to practice with prescriptive authority in the state if the practitioner provides proof of licensure in good standing from that jurisdiction; the amendment references the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as the entity to use for verification. Boyd described the change as clarifying legislators' intent and making the language consistent.
With no committee members or members of the public rising to speak for or against the amendments, Boyd moved to pass both amendments and an unidentified member seconded. A voice vote was taken and the chair declared, "Ayes have it," noting that "Senate Bill 79 concurs with both amendments." The transcript records a voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the committee transcript.
The committee took no further action on other bills at this time and adjourned.
