UAMS said faculty have engaged the PACE Foundation (a Phoenix-based nonprofit that supports PANS/PANDAS clinics) and sent clinicians to observe the University of Arizona/Banner Health clinic model. UAMS expects the foundation to contribute funding for a full-time nurse coordinator and to support clinical-startup activities.
Sen. Hammer reminded members the advisory council and interdisciplinary panel are time-limited under the act and encouraged constituents who meet criteria to apply through the governor’s online appointment portal (applicants should select 'Other' until the specific council category is posted). UAMS said initial outreach identified families from multiple states seeking this care and positioned Arkansas to serve as a regional clinic location for the South.
No formal committee action was taken; UAMS and Senator Hammer offered to bring founding foundation representatives and clinicians to a future committee meeting for further discussion of clinical models and expected timelines.
