Sheriff warns of recruitment crisis; sponsor pulls SB 304 for interim study

I've had 8 open positions for the last 6 months that I cannot fill." He described Arkansas as low in pay nationally and argued that "any kind of retention or recruitment tool that we can have is gonna better our state right now."
Sponsor remarks accompanying Boyd's testimony acknowledged larger state tax-cut priorities and limited near-term capacity for targeted raises. After hearing Boyd and discussion among members, Senator Reif said he would pull SB 304 and send it to interim study to continue the policy conversation with local governments and stakeholders.
