Goldberg Group selected to design commission-chamber modernization; $250,000 project funded by ARPA

The Ottawa City Commission voted Sept. 25 to select Goldberg Group Architects to provide design services for modernization of the commission chamber at City Hall.
Staff said one RFQ response was received (Goldberg Group), that the firm’s references checked well and that the design fee ($26,200) fit the project budget (the full project is $250,000 and funded from ARPA). Sydney Goldberg told the commission the firm has worked on commission chambers and public-sector projects and emphasized a collaborative process to include commissioner input.
A motion to approve the selection was moved and seconded; roll-call votes recorded unanimous approval. Staff said contracts will be reviewed by the city attorney before execution and that the firm will be on site frequently during design.
Commissioners discussed room layout (a semicircular arrangement to encourage discussion) and long-term maintenance and transparency in procurement for construction work.
