Minnetrista council approves culvert replacement, county assessing agreement, liquor‑license change and water‑main design task order

At its June 3 meeting the Minnetrista City Council approved several administrative and infrastructure items by unanimous votes.

West Branch culvert replacement: Staff presented one responsive quote of $61,425.90 from Minger Construction to replace a culvert under West Branch Road. After discussing scope reductions to grubbing/tree removal, the council approved the contractor and directed staff to proceed; staff said the stormwater budget (including contingency) can cover the total project cost.

Joint powers — assessing services: Council approved a joint powers agreement with Hennepin County for assessing services in 2025 and beyond. Staff said the county will assume the related expense in the county levy, saving the city an amount previously budgeted (roughly $205,000 for the current year) and streamlining services.

Temporary liquor license background checks: Council adopted Ordinance No. 489 to eliminate the background‑check requirement for the three‑day temporary liquor license; the change passed unanimously.

Woodland Cove water main task order: Council approved Task Order No. 10 with AE2S for design and specifications for the Woodland Cove water main improvements with a not‑to‑exceed design fee reported in the packet (~$52,500). Staff said the overall project construction cost will be higher and that resident project representative services and coordination will be required; the council asked staff to provide a brief construction‑phase update at the next meeting.

Motions for these items carried by unanimous votes and staff will proceed with contracting and follow‑up reporting.
