Mayor Lisa Whelan convened a Minnetrista City Council work session discussion on city‑hall hours after staff reported few resident complaints during the summer trial. Jasper Krugel, city administrator, reviewed the trial schedule and the city’s regular and modified hours, saying, “The summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 07:30 to 04:30, and Friday from 07:30 to noon.”
Councilors and staff weighed resident convenience against staffing and overtime implications. Several council members and staff emphasized the need for consistent hours between city hall and the police department and noted coverage complications if two staff members followed alternating schedules. After discussion, Mayor Lisa Whelan summarized the council’s direction: “So we'll plan on going back to regular hours after Labor Day and then summer hours again starting Memorial Day week.”
Council members said the city can revisit the change if significant public feedback arises. The council did not adopt an ordinance or formal resolution; the direction is operational and will be implemented by staff.
