The board then reviewed the proposed 2025 regular meeting schedule. A commissioner noted a conflict with one tentative date in August and said the clerk had been alerted; board members asked staff to resolve the conflict when the tentative dates are confirmed. The motion to approve the calendar passed by unanimous vote.
During the ceremonial swearing-in sequence, Jeff L. Thigpen was sworn in as Register of Deeds. Thigpen stated he would appoint a deputy register of deeds pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 161-6 and executed the appointment document during the session.
All three motions on the consent-style items were adopted without recorded dissent. The board then recessed its organizational proceedings to continue with routine county business.
