The Gardner City Planning Commission adopted the 2025 meeting and application calendar (resolution PC‑24‑01) on Oct. 23 after a staff presentation explaining the typical deadline cadence (first Monday of each month, adjusted for holidays) and the sequence that sends Planning Commission recommendations to the governing body.
Community Development Director Dave Knopek (Speaker 5) explained that meetings are typically the fourth Monday of each month and that items forwarded to the governing body generally appear at that body's second meeting the following month because of the required protest period. He noted a likely lack of items for the November PC meeting, a scheduled Dec. 17 meeting that may include a major proposal for the northeast corner of 170 Fifth and Clare, and the department’s intent to update the comprehensive plan and codes as staff capacity increases.
Knopek introduced new customer service representative Shauna (front‑counter and phone duties) and Deputy Director Maggie Brewster (first day on the job) and described internal staffing changes that will allow the department to take on some economic development functions previously handled by outside organizations. Staff closed with a reminder that these items (rezoning and CUP) will go to the governing body on Nov. 18 for final consideration.
The motion to adopt the schedule carried by voice vote. The meeting adjourned after a final motion.
