Gardner approves $2.6 million Wynwood Park relief sewer contract and accepts required easements

City staff presented bids for the Wynwood Park Relief Sewer Project (WW8010) and recommended awarding the contract to Site Right Construction Company for $2,605,599.75.
Mr. Meyer told the council that the project was bid on Oct. 18 and received seven bids with significant variance, in part because bidders priced geotechnical items and the choice to bore under arterial roads differently. He said staff reviewed the low bidder’s submittal, discussed discrepant line items (notably rock excavation and boring vs. open-cut installation) and found their references and responses satisfactory.
Council moved, seconded and approved the low bid and authorized the city administrator to execute the contract. Staff also requested acceptance of permanent and temporary construction easements across two private properties to permit installation through private parcels; staff noted the project crosses a creek under U.S. Army Corps jurisdiction and that the Corps permit had been received the prior week. The council approved the easement dedication documents so construction could proceed.
With the contract and easements in place, staff said a pre-construction meeting would be scheduled and Site Right would begin mobilization under the terms authorized by council.
