Taylor County Commissioners Court awarded multiple contracts for chiller replacement and related facility upgrades after purchasing staff’s evaluations of competitive proposals.
Purchasing staff recommended awarding RFP 2025‑501 (expo chiller replacement) to Westex Chilled Water Specialist as the highest‑scoring bidder, with a contract amount of $748,804. Staff also recommended awarding RFP 2025‑502 (plaza chiller replacement) to the highest‑scoring firm at $411,000 and RFP 2025‑503 (two pod chillers) to Baker and Associates for $297,000. Commissioners moved, seconded, and approved the awards by unanimous vote.
Purchasing staff said the awards were within the project budgets. Commissioners and staff discussed potential energy‑efficiency incentives that could reduce net utility costs and encouraged staff to pursue available rebates following installation.
The court recorded no public opposition to the awards. Staff will execute contracts and return to the court as required under procurement rules if any contract amendments are needed.
