Purchasing recommended awarding the contract to Radon Inc. for a total contract value presented as $4,513,461.50 and advised adding at least a $225,000 contingency "for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise in the process." One commissioner noted the potential for buried surprises underground and asked whether 5% contingency would be adequate; procurement responded the 5% figure is conservative.
Commissioner Burcham moved to award the ITB 2025-100 expo repaving project to Radon Inc. for the amount presented, with contingency; Commissioner Williams seconded. The court voted in favor; the motion passed.
What happens next: County staff will finalize the award paperwork and include the contingency fund in the project authorization. Procurement indicated any contingency not needed could be reallocated if appropriate under county policy.
