Commissioner Statler said a recently opened retail store has prompted drivers to use neighborhood roads as shortcuts, creating safety worries for residents. "These two roads have become shortcut to get to that road... the residents are concerned because of the length and the width of the road... when their children or grandchildren... are playing out there, speeding traffic could be a danger to them," Statler said.
A county representative noted the proposed order aligns with state minimums and similar local actions. The court moved, seconded and voted 5-0 to set the 30 mph limits and authorized the County Judge to sign the orders.
The orders will be prepared for signature and posted as required by county procedure; no appeals or public testimony were recorded in the transcript.
