Court hears ANCO benefits pitch but opts to take no action pending staff review

Commissioners asked whether current carrier relationships (in particular market arrangements involving Blue Cross Blue Shield and TAC) would prevent receiving full quotes; ANCO staff and a county representative explained how the carriage relationship can limit a full Blue Cross quote while a county remains with a competing carrier. County staff indicated they would review existing agreements to confirm whether an external evaluation is permitted.
After discussion, Commissioner Kendrick moved to take no action today on the request and direct staff to verify contractual restrictions and follow up; the motion passed 4-0.
Next steps: county staff will review provider agreements and report back to the court before the county engages any outside benefit evaluator.
