The Carter County Board of Commissioners reviewed and signed an easement for the Automatic Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the county airport with Bob and Sally Young (Young Trust) during the Jan. 13 meeting.
County staff presented the easement documents and a short addendum for signatures. Commissioners identified a minor typographical error and noted Parcel 2 had the necessary signature page while Parcel 1’s signature page and maps were missing; they agreed to attach the addendum and provide Parcel 1 materials before recording. Staff confirmed they will record the signed documents and supply the Young Trust with a recorded copy.
Commissioners recalculated the compensation owed and confirmed a total of $23,566.50 for the parcels (the transcript records the combined computation and a $10 adjustment). The board also discussed the appropriate payee designation; staff said the check will be made out to "Young Trust." A county representative said once signatures were obtained, staff would record and mail or deliver a recorded copy to the owners.
County staff and the Young Trust also discussed practical details such as allowed stack heights for stored hay near the easement and the presence of an addendum that requires separate signatures. The commission signed the available documents and directed staff to complete the recordation steps and provide a copy to the Young Trust.
