At-a-glance: council approvals include cannabis moratorium, final plat and consent agenda addition

At its regular meeting the New Prague City Council completed several routine actions by voice vote.

Agenda approval: Council approved the regular agenda after a motion recorded as made by Rick and seconded by Sean.

Consent agenda amendment: Council approved the consent agenda as amended to add an invoice to Hermel Wholesale for $36,181.25 that staff said was missed in prior submissions. Motion to approve the consent agenda with the additional payment was made by Maggie and seconded by Sean; council approved by voice vote.

Ordinance: The council conducted the second reading and approved Ordinance No. 350, an amendment to interim Ordinance 23‑338 that authorizes a study and temporarily imposes a moratorium on the operation of cannabis businesses within the city. The motion for second reading was made and seconded and passed by voice vote.

Final plat: Council approved a resolution granting final plat approval for the Stinneson (Benny) addition (three lots, approximately 4.1 acres in Lanesburg Township). Staff reported that the city attorney completed title review and the county surveyor signed the final plat; council approved the resolution by voice vote.

Other business: The council reviewed staff reports (project updates, budget packet timing) and directed staff to pursue engineering documents for the POPS small-area plan; the meeting adjourned and the council scheduled a special closed session following adjournment.
