Carter County approves senior transportation grant and coordination plan

Trish (Speaker 4), who oversees senior transportation coordination, said the county’s allocation this year is $25,008 and that state TransAid funding adds roughly $7,025. She told commissioners the service averaged about 52 rides per month over the last six months and serves roughly 24 different riders who make multiple trips. "We are busier than we used to be," Speaker 4 said, noting medical trips have priority and rides are provided as a suggested donation.
Commissioners discussed operations and asked Speaker 4 to return with a short report showing monthly ride counts and revenue. They also raised a separate personnel request to increase dispatcher Camilee’s hours (Camilee is currently paid for 10 hours per month) so the county can better consolidate trips. Speaker 2 asked that the hour increase be added as an action item for the next agenda/budget process so it can be considered alongside July budget planning.
The motion to approve the grant writing and the coordination plan was made by Speaker 2 and seconded by Speaker 5. The chair called for a verbal vote; commissioners responded "aye" and the motion carried.
