Wyoming recognized with Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District Champion award

City staff announced the city received the Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District Watershed Champion Award for its enhanced street sweeping program, support for the Sunrise River wetland project and council advocacy on the Keith Avenue sand filter project. City staff told the Wyoming City Council on Sept. 17 that the city was selected for the Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District’s Watershed Champion Award. A staff speaker said the award recognized the city's enhanced street sweeping program, support for the Highway 61 Sunrise River wetland project, and the council’s letters supporting the Keith Avenue North iron enhancement sand filter project.
Public Works Superintendent Reeves attended the watershed district’s annual meeting and staff described the award as recognition of the city’s water-related efforts. A council member also noted that homeowners from Himes Lake were recognized at the same district meeting.
Council members thanked staff and praised the crew’s work on the enhanced street‑sweeping program, which staff said helps prevent sediment from entering the storm sewer system during fall flushing.
