The council approved a rezoning request for 24989 Heath Avenue to allow the Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District to construct a stormwater iron filter to reduce phosphorus in runoff.
Mister Wag introduced the request and said the property, currently zoned agricultural, would be rezoned to an R‑1 residential classification so an outlot could be created for the iron filter and stormwater improvements. He said the Planning Commission held a public hearing and recommended approval. "They're requesting a rezoning of 24989 Heath Avenue," the presenter said, explaining the project would also include dedicating part of Heath Avenue to the city.
Wake Ivere from the Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District was present for questions. Council members raised a nearby county underpass as a potential coordination point but did not object to the rezoning. Member Onstead moved to approve the related resolution for the rezoning; Member Schilling seconded and the council approved the measure on a voice vote.
Staff noted additional submittals (a sketch plan and preliminary plat) will be considered later as the subdivision and stormwater design move forward.
