Chief urges council to review Chisago County Hazard Mitigation Plan; public comment due Dec. 2

Chief Bauer told the Wyoming City Council that Chisago County's Hazard Mitigation Plan, prepared with the University of Minnesota, is available for public review and comments specific to Wyoming risks should be submitted by Dec. 2.
Chief Bauer notified the council that Chisago County submitted a Hazard Mitigation Plan for public review and asked the council to provide input specific to Wyoming.
"This is a comprehensive document that's looking at identifying all of the potential hazards in our area and what we would do to try and mitigate it initially through public education, public notice," Chief Bauer said, noting the plan was developed with the University of Minnesota and that wildland fire and tornadoes were among the primary risks identified. He said the county provided a link and a QR code on the handout and requested comments be submitted by Dec. 2.
Chief Bauer offered to collect comments and forward them collectively or council members could submit comments directly to the county's Emergency Management Director, Mr. Selman. The council did not take formal action at the meeting but was asked to review the approximately 100‑page document and submit comments prior to the deadline.
