Invenergy updates Navajo County board on Hashknife solar-plus-storage construction

Kelly Zagzewski of Invenergy spoke during the board’s call to the public to give a quarterly update on the Hashknife energy center, a solar-plus-storage project south of Joseph City.
Zagzewski said the project broke ground Dec. 12 and that Invenergy opened a public website in December. She said the bulk of early work has been earthmoving and that the company currently has 47 craft on-site housed in local rentals, RV parks and other temporary lodging in Winslow, Show Low, Holbrook and Joseph City.
Zagzewski said crews will shift to setting piles for panels and begin substation work in the next quarter and that the company expects the on-site workforce to ramp to about 450 craft as those phases begin. From a community-outreach perspective, she said Invenergy and the Center for the Future of Arizona are setting up a teacher externship to introduce northern Arizona educators to energy development and related career paths.
Zagzewski offered to remain in the meeting room after her remarks for questions and provided written materials to the board. The board thanked the speaker and adjourned.
