AEP Foundation donates to South Texas Food Bank serving Dimmit County

Jimmy Ernest, External Affairs manager for AEP Texas, told the Dimmit County Commissioners Court that the AEP Foundation provides donations to local food banks, including the South Texas Food Bank and the San Antonio Food Bank, to support education, social needs and food security. "Weare here to help and we want, you know, proud to be a part of the community," Ernest said during a brief presentation and ceremonial check.
County officials thanked the donor and recognized Maribel, the county sanitation employee who serves as the food-bank contact for Dimmit County. The county judge expressed appreciation "on behalf of Dimmit County, myself, the judge, Martha Ponce, and the commissioners," and said the donation will be used to serve constituents in need.
No formal vote was required for the presentation. County staff said they will coordinate publicity and follow-up with the food bank and donor to document distribution and ensure the funds reach local residents who need assistance. Commissioners suggested any further financial commitments by the county for food assistance be discussed during the upcoming budget workshops.
