Dimmit County commissioners approve routine donations, reimbursements and multiple budget adjustments

At its Sept. 9 meeting, Dimmit County Commissioners Court handled a package of routine business: acceptance of donated materials, approval of staff reimbursements and conferences, multiple budget adjustments across county departments and the adoption of a tax-rate resolution.
The court recorded acceptance of donations including two totes of foam from Dilley Fire Department, millings from Anderson Columbia Co. and sand for the golf course from Black Mountain Sand. The clerk was asked to reflect the donations in the county record.
On personnel and travel, the court approved reimbursement for extension agent Alyssa Cruz for late registration and out-of-pocket costs associated with a July state conference; the vote was recorded as four yeas and one opposition. Separately, the court approved reimbursement for Jacob Rodriguez for a pump-and-motor maintenance course; after clarification about hotel and travel receipts the court approved reimbursement totaling $429.33.
County departments presented routine monthly reports (JP precincts, ambulance run counts, utilities and auditor statements) and commissioners approved them by motion. The court considered and approved numerous budget adjustments listed in the agenda (multiple departments including road & bridge, utilities, treasurer, courthouse security and others) and an item to move contract services to capital equipment for a $2,650 transfer.
Finally, the court approved a resolution on the FY 2024–25 tax-rate adoption at the request of the tax assessor to standardize the resolution form used across local tax-collecting entities. The motion carried and the judge signed the resolution as recorded in the minutes.
The court recessed into executive session at about 12:15 p.m., returned at 12:37 p.m. with no action taken in executive session, then completed remaining agenda items before adjourning the regular meeting.
