"We are in violation of CJIS, Criminal Justice Information Act," the JP reported, saying staff could not scan or access systems and that the office has been offline. The JP said she had requested a server months earlier and that a contractor (John) can install and get the office running within about two weeks once a server is provided.
Commissioners discussed whether the server had been ordered and who would pay for or manage the installation. Several commissioners urged IT follow-up and for Mr. John, the contracted technician, to attend the next meeting to report on installation and compatibility. The commission noted the operational and legal risk of continued CJIS noncompliance and asked staff to prioritize restoring secure access.
Next steps: IT and procurement staff to confirm server order/status, coordinate contractor work, and report back to the commission; JP office to avoid CJIS data operations until secure connections are restored.
