Starr County approves Nov. 5 polling locations, leases voting equipment for school district and tables ballot-board appointments

County election staff told the Sept. 9 Commissioners Court they recommend keeping election-day locations in the precincts (La Rosita for election day) and moving early voting in at least one area to the Esco Barres Community Center. The court approved the proposed locations by motion.
Elections staff also presented quotes and a contract to lease 10 express voting booths and 17 DS200 tabulation machines to a local school district; the commissioners approved the lease while clarifying that the county will not run the district election but will only lease equipment. The county noted new quote rates are in effect for the equipment.
On staffing, the court reviewed lists of early-voting judges and election-day workers but moved to table selection of the early ballot board/central-count members to allow commissioners time to consult precinct chairs; the motion to table carried.
